NSDC'S CONFERENCE
GATEWAY TO LEARNING
DECEMBER 5-9, 2009
FOLLOW THE RESPONSE TO INTERVETNION (RTI) ROAD:
FOCUSING CHANGE ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

This session focused on increasing student achievement by developing a sysematic approach to RTI.
A poorly achieving elementary school in Missouri significantly increased their MAP scores over a three year
period.
This elementary school developed a systematice response to intervention focusing strongly in grades,
K, 1, and 2. Early intervention was a priority beginning with Kindergarten. The idea was to help the students
build a strong foundation in the early years so that less intervention would be necessary in the upper grades.
